HOW IT WORKS

At each World Cup of Wine event, we'll sample 8 wines from 2 countries, and a scoring system decides which country's wines have really performed on the field. Numbers are strictly limited to 8 people per event at this stage.

£15 per event covers all wines with tasting notes, plus £5 payable to the host will get you some tasty victuals to accompany the wines on offer.

World Cup of Wine Series 1 starts with a bang on March 25 - with France v Italy in a pitched battle to find out who makes the better wines.

Quarterfinal A

France v Italy

March 25 2018

2.00pm

This match will sort your Picpoul from your Rioja in a classic battle between two big European favourites. Starting with unoaked whites, we then put the oaked whites through their paces before we let the heavy reds loose on the field.

Quarterfinal B

Australasia v Sth Africa

April 22 2018

2.00pm

This should be an interesting match up. Both teams claim to be the relatively new kids on the winemaking block compared to our European contenders, but all we really care about is - whose wines are yummier?

Quarterfinal C

Portugal v Chile

May 18 2018

2.00pm

Will Portugal's Vinho Verde outgun Chile's Sauvignon? Or will the fans go wild for a Carmenere? We're really looking forward to finding out in Quarterfinal C!

Quarterfinal D

Argentina v Spain

June 23 2018

2.00pm

Quarterfinal D - we're hoping the D stands for Delicious, but it might just stand for Difficult. Or Divided. Or Disastrous. Both teams are fiery, passionate and ready to leave it all on the field in the final quarterfinal of the series.
